San Francisco Giants Spring Training: Brandon Belt Talks Versatility, Goals on Chronicle Live

The San Francisco Giants were immediately made a better team last year when Buster Posey was called up from the minor leagues, eventually winning the World Series with Buster taking home Rookie of the Year. This season, the Giants are looking to make it back-to-back in both categories with their incredibly talented youngster Brandon Belt. Belt was on Comcast Sports’ Chronicle Live earlier today to talk with host Greg Papa about trying to make the 40-man squad, his versatility, and his goals for the upcoming season.

Brandon was selected by the Giants in the 5th round of the 2009 draft and put up ridiculous numbers last year in the Minors (.352 AVG, 23 HR, 112 RBI), and at only 23 years old, his best is yet to come. San Francisco is looking for Belt to have a productive Spring Training and could conceivably be on the opening day roster for the G-Men. Whether he makes it on the team now or is brought up from the minors later, Brandon is a player who will make a serious impact in the major leagues. Is he the next Giant to win rookie of the year? That's yet to be seen. Regardless he’s someone that will help the Giants win games.
