The San Francisco 49ers have a host of injuries heading into their final preseason game, but one player they still hope to get back is their top rookie from last season, pass rush specialist Aldon Smith.
Smith has a deep hip bruise and missed Sunday's game against Denver. He did suit up before the game but the decision was made not to let him play, though that is a good sign he could see some time on Aug. 30 against San Diego.
The same goes for linebacker NaVorro Bowman, who is dealing with a knee injury. He missed Sunday's game as well.
Wide receiver and return man Ted Ginn Jr. injured his right ankle being tackled in the third quarter Sunday. Ginn needed X-rays but they were negative, according to reports.
Other 49ers dealing with injuries include running backs Brandon Jacobs and LaMichael James and cornerback Chris Culliver. Outside linebacker Eric Bakhtiari appeared to suffer a concussion during the game, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
