49ers Vs. Broncos: Manning Leads Broncos To 17-7 Lead At The End Of The First

The San Francisco 49ers had one of the best defenses in the league last season, and yet, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning still looked like the Manning of old against them as he led the Broncos to a 17-7 lead over the Niners in the first quarter of their preseason game at Mile High Stadium.

Manning finished the first half 10 of 12 for 122 yards and two touchdowns, both to wide receiver Eric Decker.

The Niners almost went into the second quarter without putting up a point but were able to get a late 44-yard touchdown from Alex Smith to Vernon Davis right before the quarter ended which cut the deficit to 10.

The Niners only managed 65 totals yards in the quarter, none on the ground and 44 yards coming from the touchdown pass to Davis as the Niners only managed 10 first quarter plays to the Broncos 22.

The Niners are 1-1 so far this preseason, the same record as the Broncos. Both teams have new pieces all over the field and are starting to let their starters get more time on the field as the preseason slowly comes to an end.
