49ers Vs. Broncos: Brandon Jacobs, Mario Manningham, LaMichael James Sit With Injuries

Stay connected for news and updates

As the San Francisco 49ers prepare to take on the Denver Broncos Sunday in their third preseason game of the year, they will unfortunately be without a number of playmakers. Wide receiver Mario Manningham and running backs Brandon Jacobs and LaMichael James did not make the trip to Denver, according to the Sacramento Bee's Matt Barrows.

James suffered an ankle injury late in last week against Houston, while Jacobs has been nursing a knee injury since San Francisco's meeting with the Texans last week. As for Manningham, he simply sent out a one-word tweet on Saturday: "Hurting."

Barrows notes his apparent ailment is unknown at this time, although subsequent tweets suggested Manningham may have lost a friend or family member. Manningham did not miss any practice time this week, according to Barrows.

Outside linebackers Kourtnei Brown (hamstring) and Darius Fleming (knee) also did not make the trip, nor did running back Jewel Hampton, cornerback Chris Culliver and wideout Joe Hastings.
