As the veterans of the San Francisco 49ers get set to join the rest of the youngsters at training camp on Thursday, there will be one more vet taking the field with them as safety Dashon Goldson has signed his one-year franchise tender to remain in the Bay for at least one more season.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the signing on Twitter, which came at the perfect time for San Francisco. Even though he claimed he wouldn't have any form of holdout, his signing came down to the wire before camp.
Goldson was a force to be reckoned with for the 49ers last season, racking up 67 tackles, one forced fumble and six interceptions. The hard hitting safety will join the rest of his defensive unit at training camp, a far cry from last year's lockout-riddled semi-practices at San Jose State.
