49ers' Perrish Cox Not Out Of The Woods With NFL Yet

Even though 49ers cornerback Perrish Cox was found not-guilty of two counts of sexual assault, it doesn't mean that absolves him from disciplinary action by the NFL, according to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area.

"We will review the facts," said NFL senior vice president of communication Greg Aiello. "That is standard procedure. We will decline to speculate on potential disciplinary action."

Cox was signed in March shortly after he was found not guilty of the charges against him and has participated in the 49ers' offseason program. If he makes the final regular-season roster, then a decision will be made by the league based on the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy.

While criminal activity is clearly outside the scope of permissible conduct, and persons who engage in criminal activity will be subject to discipline, the standard of conduct for persons employed in the NFL is considerably higher. It is not enough simply to avoid being found guilty of a crime.

The rest of the policy can be found here.
