2012 NFL Draft Results: Seattle Seahawks Select Russell Wilson With 75th Pick

With the No. 75 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks have selected quarterback Russell Wilson out of Wisconsin. Seattle will likely try and make Wilson their franchise quarterback going forward. As it stands, they don't have much at the position - with Matt Flynn and Tarvaris Jackson the top two guys. Flynn is a recent acquisition, and many felt like he was "the guy" going forward.

Flynn might still be, but Wilson is a competitor, and he'll do his best to see the field sooner rather than later. Most likely, he'll end up sitting on the bench for awhile behind Flynn, and get an opportunity if Flynn falls on his face, which is certainly a possibility.

Here's what National Football Post had to say on Wilson in their official scouting report:

Impression: Wilson is a plus athlete who can spin the football and gives you a nice run/pass threat. However he's undersized, is going to struggle to consistently make plays from the pocket and is still learning how to work his way through defenses. He is worth a pick late, but I don't see the guy as a potential starter in the NFL. Reserve only.

He'll join Bruce Irvin, who the Seahawks drafted with their first-round pick after moving down a few spots in a trade, and also Bobby Wagner, who was drafted in the second round. Both of those picks were "head-scratchers" according to all of the experts.
