Michael Davis, brother of 49ers Vernon Davis, has been arrested on possible murder charges in Washington D.C. on Thursday.

Despite all the brevity and elation surrounding the 2012 NFL draft, some terrible news has come out of the sporting world as NBC Sports is reporting that Michael Davis, brother of professional football players Vernon and Vontae Davis, has been arrested in connection with a murder in the Washington D.C. area on Tuesday.

The Associated Press reports that 19-year-old Michael Davis was arrested and accused of striking a woman in the head with a hammer. Police are investigating whether he is also responsible for a series of similar attacks, including the killing of a 66-year-old man.

According to authorities Michael Davis may have been involved in at least four attacks this week that all led to serious head injuries for the victims.

San Francisco 49ers' star and older brother of Michael Vernon tweeted on Thursday about the situation, though why he is tweeting about this at all is a bit of a head scratcher.

We'll have more on the situation as it unfolds at SB Nation Bay Area.
