2912 NFL Draft Results: Rams Get Janoris Jenkins At No. 39

With the 39th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the St. Louis Rams select Janoris Jenkins, CB from North Alabama .

With the first of their three second-round picks in this draft, the Rams took Brian Quick, receiver from Appalachian State to help shore up their receiving corps and give Sam Bradford a good weapon in the passing game. This time the Rams go with a big-time cornerback to help their secondary, which (as with most parts of their team) was a huge weakness for them. Jenkins is a top-10 talent who fell because of major character concerns. He played alongside former Browns top-ten pick Joe Haden at the University of Florida and outplayed Haden most of the time.

Jenkins was dismissed from the Florida football team and transferred to North Alabama, where he had a distinguished senior season. Jenkins is a bit of a knucklehead and could be considered a time bomb a la Pacman Jones, but his talent is well worth the risk in the second round. If he gets his act together he could be a perennial Pro Bowler. It's a good thing the Niners are adding WR talent, because they will have to deal with Jenkins on a regular basis.
