2012 NFL Mock Draft: San Francisco 49ers Select Kendall Reyes, According To Todd McShay

The San Francisco 49ers probably don't really have a clear idea of who they'll pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. Their pick comes so late that it doesn't really make any sense to come to a consensus on who SF can select--there's just too many variables ahead of them. Stanford tight end Coby Fleener has become a very popular pick the last few weeks probably because of his previous relationship with Jim Harbaugh, but it's hardly likely that he'll be the one picked.

Todd McShay released his latest mock draft (you can view the whole thing if you have an Insider account), and he goes in a different direction on who the 49ers should take with their first round pick. McShay has the Niners grabbing defensive tackle Kendall Reyes.

Scenario 1: San Francisco would love to see Hill drop to this spot and add a dynamic weapon to the passing game.

Scenario 2: Trade out. Defensive linemen such as Ta'amu and Clemson's Brandon Thompsonare not worth the pick, but moving back could allow the Niners to fill a need position with a better value, perhaps Zeitler, Silatolu or a 3-4 defensive lineman.

Scenario 3: They could elect to go with the best defender available, meaning they might get comfortable with Jenkins or look to McClellin to bring some pass-rush help opposite Aldon Smith.

Scenario 4: Reyes might not appear on the surface to be the best fit, but he's a smart, versatile player who can pick up the system quickly and inject some youth into an aging defensive front.
