PHOTO: Alex Smith Caddies For Jim Harbaugh At The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

A veritable institution on the Central Coast, the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am is far from the most serious week of golf each year. The 2012 edition has been no different. The first day of the tournament featured a pretty amusing scenario for San Francisco 49ers fans...and potentially even more amusement for Niners detractors.

The official 49ers Twitter feed shared this picture of Alex Smith acting as Jim Harbaugh's personal caddy. That's Matt Cain of the San Francisco Giants hanging out in the background, sharing a laugh.

The official AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am Twitter feed later shared a more pastoral photograph of Smith in his...uh...caddy-ly duties.

Perhaps the more cynical football fan would suggest that Smith is attempting to further ingratiate himself to his coach so that the 49ers will be less likely to seek out an "upgrade" on the free agent market this offseason. Not me, though. I'd never do that.
