According to the Sacramento Bee’s Matt Barrows, San Francisco 49ers defensive end Aldon Smith was seen swerving on the MacArthur Causeway in Miami Beach before being pulled over and arrested for driving under the influence Saturday.

Smith was pulled over at 4:33 a.m. early Saturday morning, spending three and a half hours in a Miami-Dade County correctional facility after being arrested. He posted his $1,000 bond and would be be released.

Detective Juan Sanchez of the Miami Police Department noted that other cars on the road had to make evasive maneuvers from Smith’s the red Mercedes Benz. Smith failed a field sobriety test, and was promptly taken a Miami police station for a beathalyzer test. Detective Sanchez said the results of that test weren’t available yet.

The No. 7 overall pick in the 2011 draft, Smith led all rookies with 14 regular season sacks and is considered a leading candidate for rookie of the year honors.
