NFL Mock Draft 2012: San Francisco 49ers Take Alshon Jeffery

The San Francisco 49ers just fell out of the 2012 NFL Playoffs, which means it's time to fix things up. And the biggest issue for the offense was magnified in the NFC Championship Game, where San Francisco had only one significant threat as a receiver, that being tight end Vernon Davis. San Francisco needs some big-time wide receivers to change things up, or Alex Smith and the 49ers offense will encounter similar problems in later seasons.

The newest mock draft has been released by Ryan Van Bibber of SB Nation.

San Francisco needs another wide receiver to pair with Michael Crabtree. He definitely has some red flags to clear up between now and the draft. One strike against Jeffery is his speed, but that becomes less of a factor in the 49ers' West Coast offense, where his ability to get yards after the catch will be more valued than his forty time.

Jeffery definitely just sounds like the type of guy that fits in with what Jim Harbaugh would like to see in San Francisco. He's big, he's physical, he catches footballs, he can block. The perfect tough receiver for one of the toughest teams in the NFL.

To discuss the idea of Jeffery on the 49ers, go to Niners Nation. To talk about Jeffery with the Gamecocks, head over to Garnet and Black Attack. To talk about the NFL draft in general, head on over to Mocking the Draft.
