Cowboys WR Dez Bryant Unlikely To Play Vs. 49ers

The Dallas Cowboys need to get on the winning track soon, but they could be short their best playmaker on offense against the San Francisco 49ers. Wide receiver Dez Bryant was ineffective during most of last week's Sunday Night Football matchup with the Jets after suffering a quad injury. Now after missing Thursday's practice, Jason La Canfora of NFL.com reports that Bryant could be out unless he gets much better by gametime. This would contradict an early report that had owner Jerry Jones stating confidently Bryant would play. The thigh bruise must be taking longer to heal than expected.

Bryant's injury puts more pressure on Tony Romo to find his main targets like Miles Austin and Jason WItten, but also look at secondary options like Kevin Ogletree. The Niners must be ready for all potential targets, and still might have to brace for a Bryant return, because the pressure is stacked on the Cowboys offense to perform.

For more on 49ers football, Niners Nation is the go-to place on the Internet to discuss them. With the Cowboys, it's Blogging the Boys.
