2011 NFL Mock Draft: Raiders,49ers Targeting QB Tyrod Taylor?

QB, Tyrod Taylor has been found near the bottom of 2011 NFL Mock Drafts. Both the Raiders and 49ers could be targeting quarterbacks with a late round selection—a fact that makes Tyrod Taylor a player to follow for Bay Area football fans.

Taylor is an excellent athlete that many scouts felt would be better suited in the NFL as a wide receiver. Taylor, who is listed as a generous 6-1, lacks classic NFL QB height. He also has displayed sporadic accuracy and he is coming from a spread offense. It was even suggested that Taylor should try and play receiver during the East-West Shrine game. Taylor wanted nothing to do with it.

Taylor took all of his reps as a quarterback and then shined in the game. He finished as the East’s top passer. He completed four of his five passes for 59 yards and he did it in a pro-style offense.

Taylor has a great arm and amazing legs. While there is no doubt he would be a project in the NFL, he has a limitless ceiling and at the worst he would be a back-up QB, who could come into a game and instantly spark an offense with his legs.

With both Bay Area teams featuring offensive minded, first year head coaches, it would not be surprising for them to take a raw QB and try to mold them into their offense.
