Sacramento Kings' Isaiah Thomas Wins NBA Rookie Of The Month Award For February

Stay connected for news and updates

It's been quite the month for Sacramento Kings rookie guard Isaiah Thomas, playing some exquisite basketball during the month of February as the Kings finished the month with a decent 6-7 record. But the NBA took notice of his stellar performances this past month, naming Thomas the Western Conference Rookie of the Month in February.

Thomas led all Western Conference rookies last month in scoring, averaging 12.2 points per contest, while coming in second in assists with an average of 4.4 a game. Thomas had never started an NBA game until February, but earned his first five career starts last month, scoring 96 total points in those contests. That was enough to tie Otis Birdsong's franchise record for most points in a player's first five starts, which he accomplished way back in the 1970-71 season when the team was still the Cincinnati Royals.
