Wizards Get Off to a Blazing Start, Lead Kings 38-19 After First

Stay connected for news and updates

As expected, Tyreke Evans is inactive against the Wizards. Luther Head got the start in his place, supposedly for defense, but after one quarter it looks like the Kings will need Divine Intervention to help their defense.

The Wizards shot 15-21 from the field (71.4%) and hit all 7 of their Free Throws. Nick Young led Washington with 14 points on 5-7 shooting and young star John Wall had 8 points and 5 assists.

DeMarcus Cousins struggled to begin the game, missing all 4 of his shots, three of them really close to the basket. The only player with more than 3 points for the Kings is Jason Thompson, who has 6 points and was inexplicably pulled for Carl Landry late in the quarter despite being the only Kings player doing well.

The 38 points in the 1st quarter were a season high for the Wizards, and a season high for points allowed in the 1st quarter by Sacramento. If the Kings hope to win this game, the defense has to tighten up and shots need to start falling.
