It wasn't too long ago that the Oakland Raiders were in a tough, close game with the Kansas City Chiefs. Not anymore.
The Raiders have jumped out to a 23-9 lead after three quarters and have the game firmly in hand after a nice third quarters. After Sebastian Janikowski and Ryan Succop traded field goals, Darrius Heyward-Bey made a nice run after the catch to go 32 yards for a touchdown.
With a 14-point lead and the defense really locking in, the Raiders look like they are in complete command. Matt Cassel had a really nice first half after coming on for the injured Brady Quinn, but he slowed in the third quarter.
Meanwhile, the Oakland offensive line is taking control and Darren McFadden is starting to rack up yards. He has 80 yards on the ground now and with the way they are eating up yards and clock on the ground, to go along with their defense, the Raiders are in perfect position to put this game away in Kansas City.

What looked like a field goal battle finally got a touchdown. Carson Palmer found Denarius Moore from nine yards out late in the second quarter to give the Oakland Raiders a 13-6 lead over the Kansas City Chiefs at halftime.
The touchdown was set up by a muffed Javier Arenas punt. He put the ball on the turf and the Raiders jumped on it at the Kansas City 11. A two-yard run by Darren McFadden and incomplete pass later, Palmer connected with Moore and Oakland was in front.
It's been a big day for Moore, who set up the Raiders' first field goal when he took a bubble screen 58 yards. He has just three matches on the day, but they have gone with 83 yards and a touchdown so he is shining.
Before the muffed punt and touchdown, the two teams traded field goals. The Raiders struck first, then they added a second field goal, but the Chiefs answered with two of their own.
Matt Cassel is in at quarterback for Kansas City after Brady Quinn left with an injury and he had looked good. He has completed seven of 10 passes for 110 yards and has added 11 yards on the ground, leading the Chiefs on both of their scoring drives.

The match-up of the bad Oakland Raiders and the bad Kansas City Chiefs has been predictably bad. Neither team has played clean or impressive football, but that won't bother the Raiders. That's because a 36-yard field goal by Sebastian Janikowski has them up 3-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Oakland's scoring drive was due in large part to Denarius Moore, who took a bubble screen for 58 yards to take the Raiders from their own 18 to the Kansas City 24. He cut all the way across the field and showed off his great speed to get them into field goal range so when the offense stalled, it didn't matter. Janikowski knocked the ball through the uprights and the visitors were in front.
Brady Quinn and Matt Cassel are both available for the Chiefs, but it is Quinn who got the nod in the first quarter. He didn't do much to inspire confidence as the Raiders defense beat him around and he got hurt to boot. His status for the rest of the game is unknown, but it looks like it is Cassel's turn to get a look.
