The Raiders, still dealing with injury woes, seemingly once again snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in a 23-20 loss on Sunday to Atlanta, the league's only undefeated team.
The Oakland Raiders lost a heartbreaker 23-20 on Sunday against the still unbeaten Atlanta Falcons on a Matt Bryant 55-yard field goal with one second left, and the team is still struggling to overcome injuries on both sides of the ball.
While Darrius Heyward-Bey did return for Oakland in Week 6 after suffering a concussion, his impact was minimal. He was targeted twice, but made no catches, and gained 20 yards on one rush. Cornerback Shawntae Spencer was again inactive on Sunday, as was right tackle Khalif Barnes. The team hopes Ron Bartell, placed on injured reserve earlier in the season, can be activated and ready to play again on Oct. 27. Oakland hosts the Jacksonville Jaguars next Sunday.
The Falcons escaped not only with the victory, but also virtually unscathed on the injury report. Defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux, limited during the week by a groin injury, played on Sunday, as did linebacker Stephen Nicholas, also limited in practice leading up the the game. The Falcons have a Week 7 bye.
