Raiders Vs. Dolphins: Oakland Outplayed Despite Being 'Better On Paper'

The Oakland Raiders were thoroughly dominated on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. Reggie Bush led Miami to a 35-13 victory that saw the Raiders stretched to their limits in the second half. It was competitive through quarters one and two, but Ryan Tannehill and the Miami offense made the proper adjustments at halftime to take home the win.

Over at SB Nation's blog for the Raiders, Silver And Black Pride, they lay it out there all nice and straightforward-like:

The Raiders were dominated on both sides of the ball in this game. And it was at the hands of a team which on paper, they look to match up well with, and even have a slight advantage. But the game isn't played on paper, it's played on the field. That's where the Raiders deficiencies went from questionable to confirmed.

Oakland did have a lot of hype entering this season, thanks to a totally new coaching staff and a full offseason for Carson Palmer. But it's clear they still have some kinks to work out, and if our Raiders blog is anything to go by, there are some very serious kinks. Miami is starting a rookie quarterback and doesn't have many weapons on offense, while Bush has always been an underachiever.

The fact that they were able to walk all over the Raiders' defense in the second half is discouraging. Oakland was hoping that its defense would be its strong point, but the front seven really let them down, and the secondary just wasn't able to keep up.
