Dave Tollefson's Return To The Raiders Is A Long Time Coming

The Oakland Raiders have signed defensive end Dave Tollefson to a 2-year deal that is reportedly worth $2.5 million with $1.5 million guaranteed.

Tollefson most recently played with the Super Bowl champion New York Giants in 2011. He joined the Giants as a practice squad member in 2007 and received his first start last year, when the Giants were depleted by injuries. During the 2011 season, Tollefson picked up five sacks, doubling his career total.

The contract with Oakland represents a homecoming of sorts for Tollefson. The Raiders signed the defensive end to a futures contract in 2007, during which time he played with the Berlin Thunder and the Frankfurt Galaxy for NFL Europa, where he played well. When the Raiders waived Tollefson that year, the Giants picked him up for their practice squad.

Tollefson marks the third member of the 2011 Super Bowl champs to come to the Bay Area during the offseason. The San Francisco 49ers signed wide receiver Mario Manningham and running back Brandon Jacobs.
