2012 NFL Draft, AFC West: Chargers, Chiefs Fill Roster In Seventh Round

Kansas City Chiefs

With the 218th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Chiefs have selected DT Jerome Long out of San Diego State. The Chiefs grab another big body for their defensive line. Long can play tackle or end, but may have fallen due to a hamstring injury. He was not projected to be drafted.

The Chiefs also took WR Junior Hemingway from Michigan. Hemingway was a productive receiver in college, hauling in passes from Denard Robinson. Hemingway is a spread receiver, which requires him to be an excellent blocker. He had good hands and can make the difficult catches.

San Diego Chargers

With the 226th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Chargers have selected C David Molk out of Michigan. Molk plays at around 300 pounds and is freakishly strong. He holds great value here, having been projected as a fourth rounder. Molk won the Rimington Award as that nation's best center last year and was a first-team All-American. The Chargers picked a potential long-term starter in the seventh round.

The Chargers also drafted RB Edwin Baker from Michigan State. Baker is short, fast, and extremely strong. Ball security is a concern, but he may be a good replacement for Mike Tolbert.
