Oakland Raiders Re-Sign Safety Matt Giordano

According to several reports, the Oakland Raiders have re-signed safety Matt Giordano.

New Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie previously worked in the Green Bay Packers personnel department in Green Bay in 2009, the same year that Giordano spent with the Packers.

The seven-year veteran will compete in his second straight year in a Raiders jersey this season. Giordano started in nine games for the Raiders last season, totaling 70 tackles and led the team with five interceptions.

In 2010 and 2009, with the Saints and Packers respectively, Giordano appeared in a total of 14 games, not starting in any of them. His stand-out performance in 2011 proved that he can be a valuable contributor on defense if given the opportunity to play.

Giordano, a Fresno-native, will continue his professional career in Northern California. He played college football at Cal before being drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in 2005.
