Oakland Raiders Sign Guard Mike Brisiel

Stay connected for news and updates

The Raiders reversed course a little bit today, and instead of releasing more players, signed veteran guard Mike Bresiel.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the move makes a lot of sense for the Raiders. As John McClain explains, "The Raiders wanted Brisiel because they know him well. Their new offensive coordinator, Greg Knapp, coached the Texans' quarterbacks the last two years. Their new offensive line coach, Frank Pollack, was the Texans' assistant line coach the last five years."

Also importantly, the Raiders have a vacancy at the position, after veteran G Cooper Carlisle. Bresiel, 29, is a well-respected offensive linemen that once finished off a game after cracking his right fibula midway through. He only missed four games after that
