Oakland Raiders Coaching Staff: Jason Tarver, Defensive Coordinator

The Oakland Raiders continue to complete their coaching staff with the hiring of Jason Tarver as their defensive coordinator. The gain of Oakland will be the loss of the Stanford Cardinal. Jerry McDonald of the Oakland Tribune confirms the report.

Tarver had great success with Stanford. He was a co-defensive coordinator with Vic Fangio in 2010, and the defense didn't drop off too much upon his departure as the Cardinal still remained one of the top units. Tarver also spent the previous six years as outside linebackers coach with the San Francisco 49ers and four more years doing various other assistant work.

This is the second straight year a Stanford defensive coordinator has found a similar position at the local level. Fangio joined Jim Harbaugh on the way to the 49ers, and now Tarver will be his counterpart on the other side of the Bay. Pretty good
