Oakland Raiders Coaching Staff: Dennis Allen Hires Offensive Line Coach

Dennis Allen continues to waste no time in assembling his coaching staff. It was announced today that Allen has found and hired his offensive line coach. Former assistant offensive line coach for the Houston Texans, Frank Pollack, has been hired as the Oakland Raiders new offensive line coach, replacing Bob Wylie.

This hire is a pretty good one. Pollack was an assistant line coach on a team that appeared to be able to run the ball no matter who was lining up in the back field. Their offensive line is great at run blocking and definitely holds its own in pass blocking as well.

All that being said, for me, whether or not the Raiders keep Steve Wisniewski will matter more. I think Wisniewski brought his style of aggressive and nasty line play to the Oakland Raiders. I saw linemen finishing blocks with a ferocity this season that I had not seen in seasons past. It looked like the type of line you would expect Wisniewski to coach. Plus, there is the added incentive of continuing to help the growth of his nephew, Stefan Wisniewski. The younger Wisniewski had a great rookie season and could be on his way to a great career. Firing his uncle after his first season will do nothing good for the development of a guy who could anchor the Raiders offensive line for years.
