Oakland Raiders Roster Cuts: Trent Edwards, Shaun Bodiford, Matt Giordano Among Final Cuts

Stay connected for news and updates

The Oakland Raiders made their final cuts Saturday afternoon to get down to the 53-player limit, and finally announced them Saturday evening. The most notable cut was former Bills third round pick Trent Edwards who was competing with Kyle Boller for the backup QB position behind Jason Campbell.

In addition to Edwards, the Raiders released five other vested veterans who immediately become free agents, as opposed to going on the waiver wire. These players include WR Shaun Bodiford, DB Matt Giordano, guard Daniel Loper, CB Lito Sheppard and LB Sam Williams. The Raiders also waived a host of players including defensive backs Walter McFadden, Jeremy Ware, and Sterling Moore, WR Chad Jackson, and running back Manase Tonga among others.

The Raiders made one other roster move, moving Terrelle Pryor onto the Reserve/Suspended list where he will sit out the first five games of the NFL season. The NFL hasn’t exactly “suspended” Pryor, but we all know that’s basically what is going on.
