Raiders Cut Cornerbacks Lito Sheppard, Walter McFadden

The Oakland Raiders have cut cornerbacks Lito Sheppard and Walter McFadden, according to Aaron Wilson. Sheppard is a veteran at his position while McFadden is entering his second year.

Sheppard has been in the NFL for nine years now and signed with the Raiders just ten days ago. He spent the first seven seasons (2002-2008) with the Philadelphia Eagles before one-year stints with the New York Jets (2009) and Minnesota Vikings (2010). The 30-year-old, however, did not make the cut with the Raiders this year and will have to look elsewhere for employment.

McFadden, meanwhile, spent his rookie season last year with the Raiders and only played in four games. He had five tackles during that time. The Raiders apparently did not see enough in the young player in training camp to keep him on board, and McFadden will have to

The Raiders, along with the other 31 NFL teams, will continue to make last-minute roster changes as the 2011 season approaches.
