Oakland Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor took a step forward in appealing his five game suspension Thursday after his case was presented to Roger Goodell at NFL headquarters in New York City. 

The hearing lasted for approximately 80 minutes, according to ESPN's NFL Insider Adam Schefter, though Pryor was not at the hearing. Pryor's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, was in attendance as well as attorneys Jeff Pash, Adolpho Birch, Jeffery Kessler, David Feher, Tom DePaso and Richard Berthelsen.

As for Pryor, he was busy practicing at the Raiders facility Thursday and was not available for comment on the situation. Drew Rosenhaus mentioned that the hearing was productive, and that he expected to get a ruling from the commissioner sooner than later.

Pryor had previously stated that they would accept any penalty the NFL imposed as a condition of him being eligible for this year's supplemental draft. Some members of the NFLPA executive committee had pushed for the union to appeal the suspension including Charlie Batch and Scott Fujita who were more public with their concerns that the punishment sent the wrong message; that NCAA violations shouldn't have weight in the NFL, and that unilateral decisions on punishment by Goodell were unfair.
