Terrelle Pryor Signs With Oakland Raiders, Will Start Practicing With Team Friday

Yes, Terrelle Pryor is now officially with the Oakland Raiders. It didn't take all that long either. Raiders.com has a picture of Pryor putting his ink on the contract, ensuring he'll be in the Bay Area for quite some time if he performs up to Al Davis's lofty expectations. He's expected to at least receive a half a million guaranteed.

Raiders head coach Hue Jackson has denied that Pryor waited to sign the contract until the time when Raiders practices were closed to the media, thus keeping his starcrossed new quarterback out of the limelight. The timing does seem fortuitous though, and Pryor's absence from the open practices will prevent the inevitable media circus that follows.

Still, no one should expect much this season. Pryor is a long-term project who will need plenty of time to become an NFL-ready quarterback, and his five game suspension at the start of the season won't help matters (he won't be allowed to practice either). He doesn't have all the fundamentals down and most of his skills revolve around his athleticism. Pryor will have to definitely elevate his feel for the game if he plans to pan out.

Terrelle Pryor Reportedly To Sign Four Year, $2.36 Million Deal With Raiders

Terrelle Pryor apparently hasn't wasted anytime in getting a contract secured with the Oakland Raiders. Then again, things tend to happen fast when Drew Rosenhaus is your agent.

Multiple sources (John Clayton of ESPNSteve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times) report that Pryor will sign to a four year deal with the Oakland Raiders, netting him $2.36 million with a $375,000 base salary in 2011 and a $591,000 singing bonus. Andrew Brandt of the National Football Post reports that this year's salary will be docked $110k because of his five-game suspension issued by the NFL.

Even if it is pretty much the minimum contract, it seems a little excessive for someone who might not ever see a real professional snap. Still, compared to the monstrosity of the JaMarcus Russell contract, this doesn't seem so bad. Pryor is clearly a project, and he'll need a lot of time to develop before he's ready to be a great quarterback. Or quarterback. Or anything NFL-worthy.

There are no provisions written into the contract for extra tattoos.
