2011 Undrafted Free Agent Signings: Raiders Add James McCluskey, Mason Brodine, Ben Lamaak

More undrafted free agent signings by the Oakland Raiders coming in. First we had Sterling Moore and Alan Pelc, which was followed by Eddie McGee and Bani Gbadyu. We've got three more guys to help fill up the roster for the Silver and Black, with OL Ben Lamaak, DL Mason Brodine and FB James McCluskey the most recent additions.

Mason Brodine is a solid pickup, as a defensive end who was highly productive on another level. Brodine had the Nebraska-Kearney school record for sacks, with 23.5 over four seasons. He's a two-time all-region selection and earned RMAC honors in 2009 and 2010. Brodine made absolutely sure that he was going to be on some team's radar when he showed up to the Nebraska Cornhuskers pro day. As noted in this piece, Brodine showed up and waited around patiently, finally getting a chance at the end of the day to work out for the remaining scouts. Evidently, he made it onto Oakland's radar and will get his chance at the NFL.

The team also continued to add offensive line talent, bringing in Ben Lamaak out of Iowa State. Lamaak has played at the right tackle position and every one along the interior. At the NFL level, he projects to be a center or guard, he probably doesn't have the range to be a tackle.

James McCluskey is the most recent addition, brought in out of Boston College. He's a strong blocker that exudes toughness, and with the Raiders reliance on the run game with weak quarterback play, a guy who can get in and hit stuff with gusto is definitely needed. He's got an injury history, but has bounced back from some pretty severe ones, including a broken leg and a torn Achilles. Here's a video of some highlights from his time at Boston College, including blocking, running and catching.
