Raiders Could Reunite Carson Palmer And T.J. Houshmandzadeh In Oakland

The Oakland Raiders may sign former Baltimore Ravens receiver T.J. Houschmandzadeh in the coming weeks, pairing him with new quarterback Carson Palmer in a reunion of their days with the Cnncinnati Bengals from 2003 to 2008. According to Vittorio Tafur of the San Francisco Gate, head coach Hugh Jackson has been looking at Houchmandzadeh since the beginning of the year.

That interest may turn into something substantial soon. Jackson plans to have a work out with Houshmandzadeh  very soon. In Jackson's words: "He may not be what he once was. He may be what he once was. But I get the opportunity to see him, and see him up close and personal and go from there."

The signing of Houshmandzadeh  would reunite the newly acquired Palmer with one of his favorite targets. From 2004 to 2007, the duo played together with Palmer as the Bengals starting quarterback. During that time, Houshmandzadeh  recorded at least 965 yards each year and an average of 8.0 touchdowns. His best season came in 2007, when he had 1,143 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.

Houshmandzadeh , 34, probably doesn't have any more 1,000 yard seasons left in him at this point. He may, however, be able to provide the Raiders with a veteran presence at wide receiver and a strong presence in the locker room. The Raiders will wait for Jackson's impression of Houshmandzadeh before deciding to move one way or the other in a possible acquisition.
