Darren McFadden Injury Update: No Structural Damage In Foot For Raiders RB

Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden suffered a foot sprain in Sunday’s 28-0 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs after carrying the ball only two times and collecting four total yards. Thankfully, it appears that the injury isn’t too serious. According to Vittorio Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle, head coach Hugh Jackson says that McFadden does not have any structure damage in his foot.

Raiders fans can breathe a sigh of relief. McFadden has been wearing a boot on his foot since Monday while using crutches, but he shouldn’t have to miss an extended period of time due to any severe damage.

The Raiders will monitor McFadden’s progress carefully over the following week-and-a-half. Oakland has a bye this week, timed perfectly for McFadden, and doesn’t play again until their Nov. 6th match-up against the Denver Broncos.

McFadden will have about 10 days to nurse the injury prior to Oakland’s next game, but chances remain high that the Raiders may choose to sit McFadden even if he is feeling well for the Broncos game due to precautionary reasons. Running back Michael Bush filled in admirably with McFadden out against the Chiefs- posting 99 rushing yards on 17 carries- and could see more time if the team sits McFadden.

McFadden will rest up this week and get re-evaluated next Monday before the team decides on any definitive plan of action. If all goes well, McFadden should be back in the line-up within the next few games.
