Brett Anderson Injury: Athletics P Leaves Game With Right Oblique Strain

Oakland Athletics pitcher Brett Anderson was pulled from their game against the Detroit Tigers in the third inning on Wednesday with what is being called an oblique strain.

On his final pitch to Delmon Young, Anderson looked to tweak himself on his follow-through, getting visited by the team's trainer afterward. He threw just 48 pitches before being removed, and left on a 2-2 count with two runners on base.

Anderson was having some issues early against the Tigers, giving up three runs on three hits along with one strikeout and three walks in just 2 1/3 innings of work.

Anderson missed the last 14 months after undergoing Tommy John surgery on his left elbow. He is 4-1 since returning from the injury this season, taking his first loss in his last outing against the Angels.
