Athletics Recall Pedro Figueroa, Option Jim Miller

Stay connected for news and updates

The Oakland Athletics have made a pitching change on their roster, sending right-handed pitcher Jim Miler to Single-A Stockton. Miller's designation helped make way for left-handed pitcher Pedro Figueroa to return to the baseball club from his Triple-A assignment in Sacramento.

This will be another appearance this year for Figueroa on the Athletics roster, as he's now been on the roster for five separate stints. Figueroa has generally pitched well in terms of keeping runs off the board, but unfortunately he's had less success when it comes to issuing walks. So despite posting a 1.20 ERA with a .170 batting average, Figueroa has also tossed 11 walks, resulting in a much more average .328 on-base percentage.

Miller has pitched OK for the A's with a 2.02 ERA and .209 batting average. It's unclear as to why Miller was sent down all the way to Single-A.
