The Oakland Athletics might just be the best story of the 2012 season so far. Despite a slow start to the year and having a roster that consists of very few household names, the A's are the hottest team in the league and were 50-44 entering Sunday.
Most felt Oakland would be sellers at the trade deadline, but that may no longer be the case. According to Buster Olney of ESPN, the A's are among the many teams interested in making a run at talented third baseman Chase Headley. Here is the latest.
Among the teams interested in Chase Headley: Oakland, which is looking for help on the left side of the infield.

Headley is having a fine season with the Padres, who is hitting .266 with 11 homers, 50 RBI and an on-base percentage of .360. While these numbers are strong, they're particularly impressive given he plays half of his games at spacious Petco Park. Given that Headley is under contract through 2014, the asking price will be high in San Diego.
