Stay connected for news and updates

The Oakland Athletics managed to score nine runs in their series against the Kansas City Royals, but all of those runs came in the middle game of the three-game set. The Athletics were shut out for the second time in three days as they took a 2-0 loss on Sunday.

Eric Hosmer led off the bottom of the second inning with a home run. The only other run in the game came courtesy of an RBI single by Johnny Giavotella in the bottom of the fifth.

The A's managed seven hits in the game, all singles. They were 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position. Collin Cowgill and Josh Reddick each had two hits in the game. Oakland starter Tom Milone had a quality start, going seven innings and allowing two runs on eight hits and one walk.
