Athletics Vs. Padres Final Score: Oakland Can't Manage Sweep, Loses 2-1

On Sunday afternoon, the Oakland Athletics sent Bartolo Colon to the mound to try to secure a series sweep over interleague opponents the San Diego Padres and pick up Oakland's sixth straight win. Unfortunately, Colon and the A's took the loss by a final score of 2-1 as Oakland's offense finally took a day off after being red-hot for most of a week.

The Padres plated their first run in the top of the third on a fielder's choice. Their second and final run in the top of the ninth was just as unorthodox, as Logan Forsythe came in to score on a wild pitch by Ryan Cook.

The A's had four walks and six hits in the game but were just 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position. The A's left 10 runners on base and had no extra-base hits in the game. Colon ended up leaving the game in the third inning with an oblique strain.

Athletics Vs. Padres Final Score: Jonny Gomes Powers Oakland To 6-4 Win

The Oakland Athletics appear to have brought their home run hitting ways back to O.co Coliseum with them after their recent trip to Colorado. On Saturday, the A's won their fifth straight game as they defeated the San Diego Padres by a final score of 6-4.

Oakland opened the scoring in the bottom of the fourth inning as Seth Smith hit his seventh home run of the yeah and Collin Cowgill added a two-out RBI single to give the A's a 2-0 lead. They would tack on another run in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI double from Jemile Weeks.

In the top of the sixth, the Padres closed the gap to 3-2 with a Carlos Quentin home run and captured a 4-3 lead in the top of the seventh as Will Venable hit a go-ahead two-run double.

The A's reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the seventh. Cliff Pennington came home on a wild pitch to tie things up and Jonny Gomes then launched a two-out, two-run homer to left field. Oakland never looked back after that.

Brandon Moss kept his extra-base hits going as he rapped out a double for his only hit of the game. A's starter Tyson Ross went six innings, giving up two runs on just one hit and four walks. The Padres managed only four hits in the game.

Having already secured the series victory, the A's will attempt to extend their win streak as they go for the sweep on Sunday.

Athletics Vs. Padres Final Score: Oakland Surges To 10-2 Win

The Oakland Athletics hosted the San Diego Padres on Friday night in the first game of a three-game interleague series. Both teams were coming off three-game away series sweeps, but only the Athletics would keep the good mojo rolling as they blew out the Pads by a final score of 10-2.

The Padres struck first in the top of the first inning with an RBI single by Carlos Quentin. The A's quickly turned things around with a big crooked number, scoring five runs in the bottom of the frame on a Josh Reddick triple, a Brandon Inge single and the sixth home run of the season for Brandon Moss, who has now homered in four straight games.

Chris Denorfia hit an RBI single in the top of the second inning to make it 5-2, but that would be the last run of the game for San Diego. Cliff Pennington and Coco Crisp had RBI hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. A run scored on a throwing error and Pennington drove in another in the sixth and Jemile Weeks hit a sacrifice fly in the eighth to make it a nice, round 10 runs for the home team. Pennington was 3-for-3 with a walk and two RBI.

Travis Blackley picked up his first win for the A's with two runs allowed on five hits and two walks in six innings of work.
