Athletics Vs. Red Sox, Game 3 Final Score: Oakland Takes Series With 4-2 Win

The Boston Red Sox looked to have everything figured out on Monday, as they opened a three-game series at Fenway Park with a decisive win over the Oakland Athletics and appeared to be putting their early-season miseries behind them. Two days later, the A's had completed the series win, picking up their second win in a row on Wednesday, by a final score of 4-2.

In a "Turn Back the Clock" game where both teams sported throwback uniforms, A's starter Brandon McCarthy was fantastic, allowing one run on five hits and three walks over 6.2 innings of work.

Oakland jumped on top in the top of the fourth when Seth Smith singled home Yoenis Cespedes. They plated three more in the sixth, on RBI doubles by Smith, Kila Ka`aihue and Brandon Inge. The 4-0 lead would last until the bottom of the seventh, when Marlon Byrd hit a sacrifice fly for Boston. Dustin Pedroia hit a two-out RBI double of his own in the bottom of the ninth to cut the score to 4-2, but that would be as close as the Red Sox would get.
