Seinfeld is a Mets fan. Perhaps he dreamed he'd enjoy as much success as Beane's early Athletics teams, once his management understands how to apply moneyball principles while simultaneously spending millions upon millions, instead of just straight baseball abyssing it in the middle of the season.
