Kings vs. T-Wolves score: Sacramento falls to 0-2 in 92-80 loss to Minnesota

Dennis Wierzbicki-US PRESSWIRE

The Kings got 20 points from Isaiah Thomas, but it wasn't enough to earn them their first win of the season.

Isaiah Thomas had the kind of night that Sacramento Kings fans have begun to expect from him, but he didn't get enough help as the Minnesota Timberwolves won their season opener 92-80. Thomas scored 20 points on an efficient 7-of-13 from the field, but the Kings still fell to 0-2 on the young season.

The Kings trailed for much of the game, but did take a short-lived lead in the third quarter when Thomas got hot. He scored 14 points in the third period, but with DeMarcus Cousins and Tyreke Evans failing to make an impact, the Kings were always going to have a tough time.

J.J. Barea led the way for the Wolves, scoring 21 points and adding five assists in 28 minutes. Brandon Roy made a successful return to the NBA with 10 points, six assists and five rebounds, while Andrei Kirilenko did the same, dropping 10 points of hiw own to go along with seven rebounds and give dimes.

Sacramento will head to Indiana on Saturday before making their home debut on Monday against the Warriors. That will start a stretch in which they play 10 of 12 games at Sleep Train Arena.
