Kings vs. Hawks score: Kyle Korver leads Atlanta past Sacramento

Kyle Terada-US PRESSWIRE

The Sacramento Kings couldn't keep up with the Atlanta Hawks' hot shooting and fell at home.

The hot-shooting Atlanta Hawks rolled past the Sacramento Kings 112-96 in Sleep Train Arena Friday behind 22 points from Kyle Korver.

Atlanta shot 55 percent from the floor as a team and hit 8-of-15 from three-point range thanks to Korver nailing all five of his attempts from beyond the arc.

The Kings struggled on defense and didn't have the offensive output to keep pace with the Hawks. Jason Thompson led the Kings with 19 points and 10 rebounds, and DeMarcus Cousins added 16 boards and seven assists while struggling from the floor. He hit 4-of-15 shots on the night.

Atlanta jumped out to a 34-20 lead after the first quarter, and 13 of those points were scored by guard Jeff Teague. Sacramento guards Aaron Brooks and Marcus Thornton scored in double-figures during the second quarter as the Kings dissolved the deficit with a 36-24 quarter of their own to trail 58-56 at half.

But the Hawks' defense turned it up in the third. They held the Kings to 14 points in the period and limited them to 6-of-24 shooting to take control of the game, leading 86-70 heading to the fourth quarter.

Free throw shooting also went in Atlanta's favor. The Hawks hit 20-of-27 while the Kings only went to the line 14 times, hitting 10.
