Warriors Offseason 2012: W's Waiting On Brandon Roy, Brandon Rush

CSN Bay Area's Matt Steinmetz brings us a few golden nuggets about the Golden State Warriors Thursday morning, including updates on the team's status with the currently retired Brandon Roy as well as well as swingman free agent Brandon Rush.

According to Steinmetz, the W's are waiting to see what other offers come up from the six or so NBA clubs that are vying for Roy's services. Golden State reached out to him a few days ago as general manager Bob Myers met with Roy in the Bay Area. Myers, a former agent, used to have Roy as one of his clients. So it's hurry up and wait with Mr. Roy.

The W's are also waiting on Brandon Rush, whom they also have offered a contract. Steinmetz notes that he may have a bit more of a complicated scenario when working out a contract this summer as Golden State may not have the money to offer him what he wants.

[A contract from the Warriors] depends on what kind of offer Rush gets from another team - assuming he gets one. Rush made $2.96 million in 2011-12, and is seeking a raise from that number.

If a team were to offer Rush a contract starting at $3 million or so and build up, the Warriors would likely match and retain Rush. But if a team were to offer Rush most, or all, of the $5 million mid-level exception, that might be too high a price for the Warriors.

The Toronto Raptors are said to be one of the teams interested in signing Rush, according to Steinmetz. Rush is coming off his best season in the league, averaging 9.8 points and 3.9 rebounds in 26.4 minutes off the bench for the Warriors last year.
