The Golden State Warriors will have the seventh overall pick at the 2012 NBA Draft. Most of those around the league believe the team will go with a wing or big man in the first round to compliment their high-scoring guards, although a trade could also be in the cards if an opportunity presents itself.
The latest mock draft from ESPN's Chad Ford has the Warriors taking Terrence Jones, a wing/forward from the University of Kentucky. Here are a few thoughts on Jones and Golden State from Ford.
Analysis: There was a month or two during his freshman season when scouts debated whether Jones was a potential No. 1 pick in the draft. That talk has faded, but it's clear that he has enormous potential in a very unique mold. If the Warriors could get him to play hard all the time, he could be the answer for them at the 4.
Jones is ready for the NBA physically and could be a strong option for the Warriors on the wing, although as Ford mentions he could be an option at the four-spot down the road. Golden State will begin working out individual players in the coming weeks.
