The Golden State Warriors haven't had many four game winning streaks lately, so a victory over the Portland Trailblazers Wednesday night would be big for head coach Mark Jackson's squad. These two teams grinded it out all night long, trading leads back and forth all the way down to the very end, but the Blazers would reign supreme by the score of 93-91 at Oracle Arena.
Portland was without LaMarcus Aldridge tonight, so would have to rely on their other playmakers to get the job done down the stretch. A David Lee and-one put the W's up six with 3:40 left in the fourth, but that lead wouldn't last long as a Gerald Wallace three at 1:56 tied it back up. Two Steph free throws gave Golden State back the lead, but Jamal Crawford buried his first points of the second half with a three to take back the lead.
Coach Jackson called a timeout to plan for a final play, but Nate Robinson would trip and botch the end of the game late and the Blazers would take off with the victory.
David Lee led the way with another double-double, with 29-11, while Dorell Wright added 12 on 5-9 shooting.
Coach Jackson decided to ride the hot hand of Nate Robinson over Monta Ellis tonight, who dropped 21 points off the bench. An interesting decision to say the least, Monta finished with 10 points in 27 minutes on 3-9 shooting, playing almost no time in the fourth quarter at all. It marked the ninth loss when they were leading a game in the fourth quarter.
Gerald Wallace was 4-4 from downtown, finishing with 23 points, while Nicolas Batum added 17. Jamal Crawford added 14 off the bench.
