NBA All-Star Game 2012: Warriors Snubbed From Three Point Contest, Mark Jackson Irked

The Golden State Warriors currently lead the NBA in three point percentage, and have three players shooting at a 42 % clip or better at the moment as well. Still, the NBA made no notice of them when making the squad for the Three Point Contest during the NBA All-Star Weekend, which didn’t exactly rub head coach Mark Jackson the right way.

Minnesota’s Kevin Love, Miami’s Mario Chalmers, New Jersey’s Anthony Morrow, Orlando’s Ryan Howard, Atlanta’s Joe Johnson, and defending champion James Jones of Miami will make up the competitors this year.

Love is shooting only 36% and Johnson 35.6%, while Stephen Curry (42%), Klay Thompson (50%) and league leader Brandon Rush (54%) weren’t considered to take part in the event.

Here’s what coach Jackson had to say about it:

“I want to congratulate Reggie Miller, Ray Allen, Larry Bird, Craig Hodges, Dale Ellis and Steve Kerr,” Jackson said. “Because Brandon Rush and Klay Thompson don’t make the cut – shooting almost 55 percent and 50 percent from 3-point land."

As to how to settle it, Jax offered this idea:

“Why don’t we just fly those guys (this year’s contestants) into Oakland and we can put something at stake … and I’ll take my guys.”

I would too. Especially since they know the rims at the W’s facility.
