The Golden State Warriors are playing winning basketball.
Head coach Mark Jackson spoke with the media after the Warriors 102-96 victory over the Phoenix Suns at Oracle Arena, marking their first three-game winning streak of the season. Jackson was obviously pleased with a number of things, but most notably the adjustments made on defense and offense, especially after shooting only 36% in the first half.
"The old Warriors team would have been down 15-20 points, because their defense wouldn't have kept them in the game."
Coach specifically highlights Ekpe Udoh and his performance Monday night as well, noting not only his importance as a defensive shoot blocker/changer and rebounder, but also his progressing offensive repertoire, highlighted by his effective face-up jumper from midrange.
The Warriors face a very tough stretch of their schedule coming up, with eight of their next ten games on the road with meetings with the Thunder, Clippers, Grizzlies, Pacers, and Sixers. They may have hit their stride at just the right time.
