Looks like Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors could be back in action sooner than most people thought he'd be. His ankle does not have any serious structural damage and should be ready to go sooner than you realize.
Larry Riley released this statement:
"Stephen Curry was examined by Warriors’ Team Orthopaedist Tim McAdams on Saturday, January 7, prior to our game in Oakland and again by Dr. Bob Anderson (the doctor who performed Stephen’s surgery this past offseason) yesterday, January 9, in Charlotte, NC. Following the examinations and consultations with both doctors, the diagnosis of Stephen’s injury remains a sprained right ankle with no structural damage.
"Stephen will continue to receive treatment and undergo rehabilitation therapy. He will be cleared to play whenever he is able to pass a functionality test on his right ankle."
Curry's previous ankle injuries have always been a source of consternation for Golden State fans because they're always uncertain how long he can stay on the floor and be an active guard. With Curry out, the Warriors pretty much have to rely on Monta Ellis as their mainstay guard and ride him the entire way, and that's not a terrible healthy way for the team to function.
Curry is still being listed as day-to-day. Still, his history of ankle issues have to trouble any basketball GM. The Warriors need to make sure Curry is 100% healthy before throwing him into action.
