Warriors vs. Kings, NBA Schedule Preview: Warriors Host Kings for Likely the Last Time

The end of the 2011 NBA regular season is just days away, which means that the life of the Sacramento Kings franchise is drawing to a close. With the Maloof brothers all but packed for their relocation to Anaheim and renaming the team the ‘Royals’ the Golden State Warriors will have their last shot to face them before they head for southern California tonight.

In their last meeting in Sacramento, The Kings we’re all over the W’s by a score of 129-119 with Marcus Thornton blowing up for 42 points. It was the last time the Warriors likely will ever play at Arco/Power Band Pavilion, and a fitting way for the Kings to end the run with their Bay Area rivals, but now the W’s will look to return the favor this evening, as well as winning their fourth game in a row.

The Warriors are 8-1 over their last nine games versus the Kings at Orcale with a scoring average of a whopping 124.6 per game. But during their latest win streak, the W’s have been putting in work with their defense. Here what Monta Ellis has to say about their play as of late:

“We’ve just been playing both halves, mainly I think it’s our defense, limiting teams to one possession versus getting second-chance points. And then getting out and running and making shots.”

Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m. tonight and can be seen on CSN Bay HD or KNBR 680 AM.
