Warriors v. Mavericks, NBA Scores: Warriors Score Season Low 73 Points in Blowout to Mavericks

Tonight was a night the Warriors could have shown some heart. They didn’t.

The Golden State Warriors made it four losses in a row tonight as they were demolished by the Dallas Mavericks 101-73 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. With the loss it moves the W’s to 30-40 for the season, and marks the end of their 2011 campaign except for the 12 games left in the regular season schedule.

Golden State trailed from the very beginning and never really had much fight in them the entire night. They took a 7 point deficit into halftime and got within four in the 3rd quarter, but thanks to a measly 10 point fourth quarter as a team, it solidified the embarrassing 28 point loss with two more games on their road trip. Monta Ellis lead the Warriors with 18 points, Steph Curry had 11 and 6 assists while David Lee had another meaningless double-double with 10 points and 12 boards. As a team the Warriors shot 35% (27-77) and only 25% from downtown (5-20).

As for the Mavs Dirk Nowitzki lead all scorers with 20 on 9-15 shooting while Peja Stojakovic added 17 from off the bench shooting 5-8 from downtown after missing the last 6 games with a sore neck. Dallas out rebounded Golden State 51-39, while beating them at their own game by scoring 27 fast break points compared to the W’s 12.

The Warriors now head to San Antonio tomorrow to face the best in the West Spurs; another very tough road game for the W’s, especially on a back-to-back. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. tomorrow evening.
